Please join me in welcoming Ashley Salem as the new District Executive for the Canyons District!
Ashley was born and raised in Newport Beach and is excited to return home to Southern California. She recently retired from a 14-year water polo career, which included playing collegiately at UC Davis while earning her bachelor’s degree in English. Her passion for the sport later took her to the United Kingdom, where she earned a master’s degree in creative writing from the University of Nottingham. While overseas, she competed for the university’s water polo team, participated in England’s National League, and played in a semi-professional championship series with London Otter.
Ashley brings professional experience in journalism, sports operations, customer service, and hospitality. In her free time, she enjoys reading, writing, and exploring nature—especially places with rivers, creeks, or other water features.
Ashley is grateful for the opportunity to serve Scouting America and looks forward to building strong relationships with our staff, volunteers, Scouts, families, and community partners.
