THE DISTRICT’S PURPOSE
A Scouting district is a geographical area of the BSA local council, determined by the council executive board. Canyons District area includes Anaheim Hills, Orange, Tustin, Villa Park and Yorba Linda. District leaders mobilize resources to ensure the growth and success of Scouting units within the district’s territory. The District leaders are made up of volunteers from these areas to serve in various positions for the Packs and Troops. The purpose of the district is to work with chartered organizations and community groups to organize and support successful units and activities. The end result of effective district support is more and more youth members receiving a better and better program.
Roundtable is a monthly meeting for all Adult Leaders. An opening general session (usually about 30 minutes long) provides information relevant to all Scouters in the District. The next hour is devoted to specialized training/discussions, “breakout” sessions, on a specific topic, for Cub Scout Leaders and Scouts BSA Leaders to learn new information about the Scouting program.
Scouts BSA roundtable is a form of commissioner service and supplemental training for volunteers at the unit level. The objective of roundtables is to provide leaders with program ideas, information on policy and events, and training opportunities. It is a forum for sharing experiences and enjoying fun and fellowship with other Scout leaders. When skillfully executed, the roundtable experience will inspire, motivate, and enable unit leaders to provide a stronger program for their Scouts.
Roundtable meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month
